Saturday night, Beyonce premiered her HBO special “Lemonade”, the mini-movie to her album of the same name now streaming on Tidal. The hour long special is filled with intense visuals of betrayal, feminism, infidelity and black women overcoming adversity all while using the album as a score. The special includes cameos from Serena Williams, Zendaya, The Weeknd, Quvenzhané Wallis, Amandla Stenberg, Winnie Harlow, Halle and Chloe Bailey, Ibeyi and the mothers of Trayvon Martin, Eric Garner and Mike Brown. Many have their speculations about whom or what the songs are in reference to but in the meantime, check out the fashion featured in the movie below.

Culottes are any garment which looks and hangs like a calf length skirt (not to be confused with palazzo pants which flow down to the foot), but is split down the middle and actually pants. Back in the Victorian times, these long wide legged pants were made so women could everyday things such as horseback riding, gardening, riding bikes, etc without the inconvenience and limitations of an actual skirt. Culottes have definitely made a comeback as does everything. A vintage look with a modern twist.

From flannel shirts down to the plastic tattoo choker, the reemergence of the decade is here to stay a while. One piece that you’re likely to see every designer take their spin on next spring is the slip dress. Kate Moss was one of the faces of the slip dress in the 90’s but Rihanna has been wearing them all around town this fall, dressing the silhouette up or down.
